ARGH! I'm telling you! Singaporeans HAVE to learn to pick a universal language we ALL know how to speak!
Yesterday was friggin Sec 1 registration, and being a Student Councillor, I had to go help with ushering or the distribution of books. And boy I tell you....COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN. It really sucks that after you had worked up the courage to just go up to a total stranger 2-3 times your age and TRY your best to help and explain things to them and they just ignore you and return a f***ing blank stare or reply in another language WHICH! I have trouble understanding. Or replying to. Man! One of them even needed a kid to translate from Hokkien to English,and even the kid I could tell is struggling to speak to me. In ENGLISH!
And while we're on the subject on Singaporeans' CRAP behaviour in the presence of other people, perhaps all of us should train in the army from the minute we were born. We seem to have a problem standing in a straight line and waiting our turn. FREAKS! I lost count over how many PARENTS I had to go up and say please Queue! Is it really that physically daunting to just stand behind someone?!*HUFF*
Perhaps this is the reason why we've dropped to one of the rudest countries ever known on Earth. Jeez! It's not that difficult to say EXCUSE me!( Or Exqueeze me...whatever you wanna call it.) Or Thanks for that matter. You don't HAVE to be a people person to do it, I know I'm not, but I use them rather often.
