Trains suck. More specifically, MRTs suck.
They tend to go haywire when you need them to run smoothly(going back from school), and they tend to run smoothly when you want them to fail(Say if you're going to school).
The train I was on came to an abrupt halt in between the Dover and Buona Vista stops when I was heading BACK from school after Physics O levels today. After 5 minutes of no movement whatsoever, everyone knows it's only polite to inform your human cargo about the situation. But did they? NOOOooo..
It was only after 20 agonising minutes of waiting then the announcement came. And come on, there's only so much people can take before panic sets in. And what do we hear? 'This train has been delayed due to a track fault. We apologise for the delay' in 4 different languages.GREAT!
Did I mention I had Diarrhoea?
So they finally managed to get the train moving, at what must be 2 miles an hour, to arrive at the Buona Vista stop, where they promptly chucked us out and sent another train to clean up.
Subsequently after the abandoned passengers boarded the rescue train, the train chugged out of the station, rattled violently for about a minute, and whaddaya know? It stopped. AT AN ANGLE TO THE TRACK. The operator started the train again, and it INCHED forward for 100m before- You know. By now I was hoping my bowels would hold and not embarass me in public. Despite the aforementiones circumstances, ol Thomas(the train) pulled through and got to Commonwealth with a whole lot of shakin. And pit stops.
It died for a couple more times along the way to Queenstown, where I hopped out and took the bus instead. At the station I also noticed the opposite train also dumping their passengers and sending another empty train. What the heck man.
I made it to the toilet in time. Thank God.
I hate Mondays.
