Oh man. There's something about Achiever's day that always feels like a bad hangover. You feel great on the day, and the next morning you wake up feeling a bit worse for wear. Mainly because you find out your entire year of hard work was only worth 30 dollars worth of popular vouchers, but also because you wake up with the knowledge that it'll be months/years before you ever meet up with the same fantastic group of people again.
Damn.
Still, it is an event worth attending. Heck Yamunna and Kai Heng's tripping on the steps were worth the wait. Being an ex Emcee of the event in previous years I also got to quietly grumble about this year's emcees. Fine job, but they didn't have to do the names of the teachers. Though I'm sure they had more names called out accurately. DAMN.
Also I heard you guys when I was up on stage. Thanks for the support dudes/dudettes. Nice warm fuzzy feeling.
It just feels fantastic to be with the same group of people that gel together really well cause we sort of suffered through each other's stupidity and fluctuating hormone levels brought on by puberty. Heck survive that you'll survive each other on normal days. It is also with the same group of people I can totally complain and grumble till the cows come home cause I do that often. Heck i think they know those tirades are pretty much my pathetic attempt at humour and I don't mean nothing by it. Some know more than others. I feel more comfortable around them than any other crowd cause I don't have to hide anything. All my geeking out is absorbed and responded to by Yuqi, and all my female stuff is shared with erm the females, brain stimulation nicely balanced out and challenged by Yamunna and Jin and the Biology whizzes with social skills, and the humour is generously provided by Alvin and the chipmunks. Actually pretty much the entire group got me laughing in some way or another with your quirks. Doesn't have to be the same class even. Jessie and Praise have proven this statement true more than once.
Also since graduation I haven't found a group of people that share the same civic mindedness or verbal skills as the lot in Tanglin. Or a group quite so willing to provide me with movie information to keep my geekiness going. Ever since Poly I've pretty much lost touch with movie kingdom, cause there weren't the usual flow of listeners and magazines and newspaper articles/posters.
Okay I missed you guys happy?!
